5 lessons I learned from a tree
That poem by Robert Eckstein is a perfect fit to my lovely garden!
- Forgive.
There will be animals, circumstances and especially people
that bump into me.
Some might pee or shit at me, some give intentionally a kick, others cut off my branches. There will be times I get hurt.
Forgive.
The tree doesn’t stop to produce her gift of oxygen out of revenge.
She knows that, only hurt people hurt others as a silent cry for help.
So, the only revenge I will give them is that the rudeness & pain won’t extinguish my gift of light.
I will shine even brighter than before so that even the sun is looking at me.
- Treat everyone with respect.
Don’t discriminate.
Picture a burning sun on a hot summer day and people yearning for a protective spot.
A tree will provide a shaded place to everyone who approaches.
Not concerning the colour of skin, cultural background, occupation, religion and age.
Treat everyone with respect.
Because everyone deserves a chance from me, and sometimes two.
- Let go to let come.
The tree is in spotlight on stage as a role model that
it’s ok to let go.
It’s ok to let go of the old, of what is not serving me anymore.
With this play of the leafs,
the seasons are showing a part of the life cycle and that
change is a big constant in this equation of life.
I often only see what I can lose, not what I can gain.
But… Let go to let come.
It’s ok to let go
of the old burdens on my shoulders, to invite change and to make space for something new for me.
- Stop and Listen.
Take a pause to listen to the orchestra of the birds.
Listen to their version of Bach-compositions.
Stop and Listen.
And look.
Acknowledge and appreciate the beauty in nature all around.
It’s always there, like we breath the invisible air.
Like I have lungs, so I have eyes. I just need to use them
- Bring life into the world.
The tree gives us oxygen all her lifetime without any strings attached.
She is also a living space ship for thousands of little animals.
Bring life into the world.
A tree is truly living her gift for the world.
The tree – is – a gift and reminds me
that I am and everyone else can choose to be
a gift for the world.
